Apple Cider Vinegar / Netflix

Apple Cider Vinegar | Netflix

Laila Thaker will Appear as Layla, and Mark Casamento as Eddie in the new Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar.

What happens when your health and wellness advice comes from a fraudster?

Inspired by a true story that was based on a lie, Apple Cider Vinegar stars Kaitlyn Dever as Belle Gibson, an Australian wellness influencer who claims to have cured her terminal brain cancer through health and wellness. Sounds unlikely? That’s because it is. As it turns out, Belle has never actually been diagnosed with — or cured of — the malignant brain tumor that she shares with the world through social media, the mobile app she develops, and its companion cookbook.

Set at the birth of Instagram, Apple Cider Vinegar follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring if it were all true.

This is a true-ish story based on a lie, about the rise and fall of a wellness empire; the culture that built it up and the people who tore it down

Congratulations to Jane Larking for writing, producing and directing The Edge. Jane Larking is also starring as Annie Murphy, Layton Le Petit as Edward Proxy, Mary-Anne Halpin as Robin, Curtis Clarke as Cody

Immersed in the realm of competitive sports, three young women offer an illuminating exploration of the life of a female athlete amid the world of intense rivalry - both within and beyond the arenas of track, pool, and gym. Yui, a Japanese Paralympic swimmer, grapples not only with the usual highs and lows of sportsmanship but also contends with cultural nuances and biases stemming from her disability. While fellow athletes recognize her prowess, societal attitudes often fall short. Annie, a sprinter driven primarily by her athletic passion, finds herself facing an unexpected challenge when her boyfriend proposes an open relationship. Finally, Sylvia, a First Nations powerlifter, navigates the intricate balance between her physical prowess and her exceptional intellect, struggling with emotional detachment and romantic commitment along the way. Metaphorically, we're all competitors in a game of life, it's just that sport writes down the rules. Because if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Plum

Plum

Daniel Widdowson is in Plum

Football hero Peter "The Plum" Lum is living the dream until he’s diagnosed with a brain disorder. The emotionally charged six-part drama series Plum, starring Brendan Cowell and Asher Keddie, premieres this October on ABC.

Peter ‘The Plum’ Lum (Brendan Cowell) is a living legend in Australian sporting terms. Now retired and reeling towards 50 with all the back pain and ailments a footy player can expect, he lives a humble life in Cronulla. The simplicity of this life is exactly what he wants - kicking the ball with his teenage son Gavin (Vincent Miller), dinner on the deck with girlfriend Charmayne (María Dupláa), followed by a few too many beers at the local pub with his mates Brick (John Tui), Squeaky (Josh McConville) and Magic Matt (Wayne McDaniel).

It looks like Plum is living the dream until an accident at work reveals he has a brain disorder as a result of the hundreds of head injuries and concussions he’s suffered on the field. The new diagnosis doesn’t have its intended effect, as Plum would sooner hide, run and head to the pub for drinks with the boys and pretend everything is peachy than confront things.

But hiding from the truth isn’t easy when your ex-wife (Asher Keddie) cares too much and your son comes to realise the father he worships is falling off his mantle and the game they love might be to blame.

Elyse Phelan is Rosalind in ‘As You Like it’ by William Shakespeare, A TheatreiNQ production

Elyse Phelan plays Rosalind and she positively glows and sparkles in one of the most engaging performances I have seen in many years. With perfect comic timing, she lends nuance and delight to arguably one of the best female comic roles from the Bard’s pen. This is a charming and magnetic performance that is no doubt assisted by a compelling natural stage presence.
